Jaime,
I like your I poem. I think about the thoughts that would be going through my mind as I traveled to meet the man who I have never met before, but will be my husband, and I had many of the same thoughts that you shared in your poem. I also think that many wives share your mail order brides thoughts as well.
Great Job!

Jamie, I have to admit when I first read the title, I laughed..not sure where you were headed! It was absolutely beautiful, though! I literally had this image in my head of a girl sitting on a train looking out the window thinking thoughts that every girl thinks about…”Will he like me? Can love conquer all?” Loved it…keep up the good work
Jamie – Your poem was very well done… It really put you into what was going through her mind as she was traveling along… I agree with the others…it made you feel what she was feeling…thinking about the unknown. I would have loved to have seen your project! I know you must have found out some amazing facts about mail-order brides!! Of coure I’ve heard of the term…but just couldn’t imagine! (wouldn’t want to imagine!) Well done! Kari

This whole “mail order” thing is really hard for me to wrap my mind around! It is such a different concept than what comes to mind when I think about marriage. Of course, we are seeing the second wave of “internet” brides with the current technology… another idea I just can’t get used to. I thought your poem was very introspective and it helped me think about the situation from a different point of view. It was thoughtfully written and expressed sentiments that very possibly would have been going through the mind of a young lady on a train on the way to meet her new husband. Nice job!

Bravo. Ironic that on my street 6 couples met on Yahoo, Match.com or other such Internet dating sites and our accepted without hesitation. While my bride whom I also met on the Internet is shunned. Is it because I met her on the Internet or she is from another country or carries the label of mail order bride. Perhaps, our society is not as advanced as we believe it to be. Immigrants are still shunned and looked down on with labels merely updated.
